The Coxmate
range of electronics
assistants for coxes brings the benefits of current electronics technology to
rowing. The Coxmate SR
is the mid range of the Coxmate
family. It’s main functions
are a rechargeable audio amplifier, stop watch/timer, stroke rate display and
stroke count.
The
SR has a long list of other
functions, including:- A backlit display for those dark Winter mornings, a
metronome function providing an audible pulse at a preselected stroke rate, the
recording and recall of stroke rate and interval times, increased battery
capacity, and a sophisticated battery management system to provide indication of
available battery charge and maximise battery life. Connector is fitted for
external radio receiver to be plugged in , enabling coach to talk directly to
crew.
The Coxmate
range is offered with
speakers, cable harness’, stroke/seat sensors, microphone and charger. The
speakers, stroke/seat sensor and cable harness are compatible with the Nielsen
Kellerman Cox-Box™ and Cox-Vox™ units. An SR
unit can be plugged directly into
an existing Nielsen Kellerman cable harness.
The following
Coxmate kits and componentsare available:
SR-Kit: SR control unit
with charger, microphone, carry case, mounting plate, silicon grease and manual.
*CH4-SR/SC-Mod-kit:
Cable harnessfor four with connectors
for 2 speakers and stroke/seatsensor.
*CH8-SR/SC-Mod-kit: Cable harnessfor eight with connectors
for 4 speakers, stroke/seat sensor and section connectors.
* The 'modular' harness/speaker systems are recommended.

The Coxmate
designs are a result of a
lengthy and intensive study into the needs of rowing, and how existing systems
can beimproved. Some of the features
are listed below:
Large capacity NiMH rechargeable battery
storage.
Sophisticated battery management
with indication of charge level. Charger turns off when fully charged- avoids
degrading batteries by overcharging.
Automatic power down if speakers
are not connected – avoids accidental flattening of batteries.
Automatic retention of volume
setting when turned off/on.
Large versatile 2 x 16 digit alpha
numeric display with backlight. Backlight can be turned on/off.
Fully featured stop watch/timer.
Short circuit protection of speaker
output.
Customer replacement of
rechargeable batteries.
A permanent connection of
microphone to control box – removing problems associated with unreliable
connection.
Coxmateharness accommodates up to 4
speakers – providing even sound volume through boat, and enabling Cox to
communicate with crew but not the competing crew alongside.
Improved
cable harness design:
All
connectors are fitted with strain relief to protect against damage during
connection/disconnection.
All cables
are double insulated to provide additional mechanical protection.
All copper
wires are tinned to reduce corrosion potential.
All
connectors are fitted with clear visual markers to assist in aligning of two
halves during connection.
Main harness connector and section connectors have retentive caps, to
protect connector when control unit is disconnected.
The Coxmate units are
supplied with a special mounting plate. This can be permanently mounted inboat or strapped to Cox’s
arm or leg with Velcro™. The control unit is easily attached/detached to/from
this plate.
Mute button: Will suppress audio if
held down.
